End of March 2010, French violist Adrien La Marca was awarded the Editions Bim Prize (250£ Sterling) for the best performance of Sonatine I for viola solo by Roger Steptoe, the required piece in the first round of the International Lionel Tertis Competition for Viola 2010, in Port Erin, Isle of Man.

Composer Roger Steptoe was inspired to write a Ballade (c. 10’) for horn and orchestra (2 oboes, 2 horns, percussion). A first reading of the work was organized by Editions Bim in February 2010 featuring horn soloist, Bruno Schneider.

The 26/27/28 January 2009, Charles Dutoit will be conducting the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne with, among others, the Sinfonietta for strings by Swiss composer Jean Balissat. A great tribute to the recently deceased composer. During the same concert, Martha Argerich will perform the Concerto in G major by Maurice Ravel.

20 years ago Osmo Vänskä begun his work as the Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and these concerts are the final concerts of this successful period. In Vänskä’s farewell concerts will be heard as the world première performance the work ORA by Askell Masson, who is one of the most interesting composers of our time. The soloist in the work is the awsome percussion Ensemble Kroumata. Concert available live on May 8th 2008 on classicLive (online until May 29, 2008). Conductor Osmo Vänskä talks about the upcoming world premiere of ORA for 6 percussionists and orchestra.

The Swiss composer Caroline Charrière and her women choir "Le Choeur de Jade" have won the Prize for the best performance of the set piece by Fosco Corti at the 44th Montreux Choral Festival (25-29 of March 2008). The 13 singers and their conductor share this Prize with the winner of the Prize of the Jury, the "Mrs Darcy" choir. 19 choirs from 12 European and Asian countries where attending the competition.

Swiss violin virtuoso and composer Helena Winkelman just joined Editions Bim. Her chamber music works will be published at first (starting in october with "Rondo mit einem Januskopf" for violin and violoncello). Helena's compositions include a rich palette of sonorities and materials. They are now dramatic, now lighter playing with influences from Bartok, Scelsi, Dave Brubeck, Pierre Favre, Ravel and Kurtag. Helena Winkelman is expressing her sensitivity and her humor with a touching talent, personality and spontaneousness.

Swiss composer Julien-François Zbinden will celebrate his 90th Birthday on November 11th, 2007. As a composer, he was self-taught at the beginning. Today his catalogue of works includes over a hundred works (opera, oratorio, symphonies, concertos, choral music, incidental music). His Fifth Symphony op. 100 (2007) will be world premiered on 1st and 2nd November by the Bern Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andry Boreyko. Julien-François Zbinden is one of the Swiss contemporary composers who is played and recorded throughout the world.

Áskell Másson received the Iceland Music Prize for his Violin Concerto which was named “Work of the year 2006”. At the prize ceremony January 31st, which took place at the Reykjavik City theatre and was broadcast directly by the Iceland State Television, the City Major of Reykjavik handed him a statuette verifying Másson´s Violin Concerto as “The work of the year 2006” in the category of “Classical and contemporary music”. The judges said of the work: “Áskell Másson has been particularily prolific and creating in the year 2006. The Violin Concerto is one of his works which received its premiere during the year, but in addition to this, one could name the works Bois Chantant, Quatrain and Introvertical visions. The Violin Concerto bears strong characteristics of its author, being energetic and having rhythmical sharpness, brilliancy of colours and verifying his unique ability in orchestration”.

Bulgarian composer Georgi Minchev appeared on Swiss classical radio "Radio Suisse Romande, Espace 2" on February 26th in Lausanne for "Chant libre" with Jean-Pierre Amman, to present his choral works. His unique style of composition and philosophy gave birth to numerous works, among them is "Prayers" a strong masterpiece for mixed choir. Georgi Mintchev: "The human voice is the most perfect, sensitive, musical instrument I know. It is the most appropriate to express the total experience of human feelings and sensitivities. Perhaps this is related to the fact this expressive transmitter is located midway between the brain and heart!"
